Diocese of Orange Media Alert/Photo Opportunity What: Groundbreaking at new Christ Our Savior Catholic Church in Santa Ana Where: 2000 West Alton Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92704 When: Saturday, June 1 following the 8 a.m. mass (approximately 8:45 a.m.) After the Mass, there will be a procession from the Church to the site that will be blessed in the parking lot.  There will be a tent over the site of the new Church, the ceremony will be a multilingual service of the Liturgy of the Word with a blessing of the ground and the “ground breaking” with a shovel. With the purchase, renovation and upcoming dedication of Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove, Christ Our Savior Cathedral Parish has been renamed as Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish.  A new era has begun for this young parish with the challenge of building a new church that answers to the needs of a diverse and growing community of faith. The Christ Our Savior groundbreaking comes at a time when many Catholic parishes across the U.S. are merging or closing altogether. The groundbreaking starts the construction of the long-awaited church building by this parish first established in 2005 by Most Rev. Tod Brown, Bishop Emeritus, with founding pastor Msgr. Michael McKiernan.
