Santiago De Compostela Annual Camino
On July 22, the 7th annual Camino de Santiago takes place at Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church in Lake Forest. This camino is a re-creation of the pilgrimage celebrated throughout the year by thousands around the world to the Shrine of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
In addition to the usual three routes — 7 miles, 4 miles and the mini camino — a camino for families with young children has been added. It is a shorter version of the other routes, with activities and reflections for the youngest in the community.
This year’s theme is: “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The walk will focus on the pilgrims’ reflections, prayers and activities in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
Camino de Santiago will be followed by a Holy Mass at 11:30 a.m. (with Bishop Timothy Fryer as main presider), food, music, games, movies and fellowship. This is truly an event filled with love, humility, fun, fellowship, service and faith.
