Christ Fest Music Festival to Honor Philanthropist Sir Bruno Serato with St. Nicholas Award
Restaurateur and humanitarian will be recognized for his humble and constant care of Orange County children.
Garden Grove, Calif., (August 25, 2017) – Christ Fest, the annual Christian music festival held at Christ Cathedral, will this year honor Sir Bruno Serato and his organization, Caterina’s Club, which feeds more than 3,500 hungry children throughout Orange County each day.
During the festival on September 9th, the Most Rev. Kevin Vann, Bishop of Orange, will present Serato with the St. Nicholas Award in recognition of his profound works of mercy. A portion of all event proceeds will go to support the work of Caterina’s Club.
Honoring a Legacy of Service: Sir Bruno Serato and Caterina’s Club
Sir Bruno Serato, chef and owner of the famed White House restaurant in Anaheim, founded Caterina’s Club in 2005. The organization is named for his mother, Caterina, who, after witnessing a child at a local Boys and Girls Club eating potato chips for dinner, insisted that Bruno cook the boy a plate of pasta. From that one act of kindness, Serato’s ministry has grown to feed more than one million children in local communities. For the past year, Caterina’s Club has been using the kitchens at Christ Cathedral to prepare meals.
The St. Nicholas Award is particularly fitting, as St. Nicholas is known for feeding the hungry. During a famine in his hometown, he miraculously provided enough wheat from a single ship to feed the town for two full years.
Bishop Kevin Vann stated:
“I have witnessed the profound works of Mercy taking place daily through their efforts. Bruno, like St. Nicholas, witnessed hunger in his midst and responded by compelling the community to share their resources and care for the needs of our most cherished resource, our children… We want him to continue to be able to feed thousands of kids every day and are happy to be honoring and supporting him in this way.”
