Missionary Childhood Association

Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), originally founded as the Holy Childhood Association in 1843, is an international Catholic organization whose membership is made up of students inviting the hearts of young students to be shaped by the love of Christ and the missionary nature of the Church. Through participation in Catholic elementary schools and religious education programs, children are nurtured to grow in their understanding of the Church’s missionary spirit. They are encouraged to embrace a missionary heart, living out the Gospel in their daily lives by caring for others, especially those in most need.

At the Mission Office in the Diocese of Orange, the MCA program serves as a resource and support for schools and religious education programs, helping to inspire and guide children as they participate in this beautiful mission of love, compassion, and service to others. Together, we work to instill in the youngest members of our Church the profound joy of sharing the Good News and caring for those in need.

MCA Christmas Artwork Contest 2024-2025

When expressing our faith, it should be done with all the gifts that God has given us. Sharing the good news of the Gospel through art gives children the opportunity to share the love God has for all of us. This is one of the reasons we invite children in grades K-8 to use their artistic talent and enter the MCA Christmas Annual Artwork Contest. This contest takes place during the season of Advent and the children are asked to depict a theme from the season.

All children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are encouraged to enter and have the chance to be selected as one of our twelve local finalists. The twelve local winning entries will then be submitted to the MCA National Office to be entered in the nationwide contest where twenty-four winners will be selected to be displayed at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. during the following Advent and Christmas seasons. The artwork of the local finalist will be on display on the Campus of Christ Cathedral during the season of Advent. https://info.missio.org/2024_25_entryform
